When setting out to buy that first electric guitar, you need to know some things before you enter in to a world where all the confusion can make your head spin. There are electric guitars of all makes, models, and styles that are made for certain types of music, and then there is the price.
Make sure that when you go into a store you find a store that has a good reputation you may be able to determine this by the number of professional players you see there. In this type of store the staff works with you and do not try to get you to buy the priciest item there. If you are starting out, then there are excellent electric guitars made today that are affordable and sound very good. There is the temptation always that you go for the most beautiful one there, but it is always best to take things step-by-step and not too much too soon. Too many people give up trying to play because they try to go all the way to the top in one leap.
Do not be afraid to ask. First, find out about the electric guitar that you like, then, find out how it is made so that you can make an educated decision. There are many factors that go into the making of the instrument, for instance the wood used. The thickness and the density of the wood are crucial to the sound the guitar makes, because of the resonance it creates, so be sure to tell the sales person what kind of music you want play, as the wood used makes more of a difference than most people know.
Then, there is the make of the guitar and the model. There are Stratocasters and Les Pauls, there are telecasters and SG’s, and they are all used by different musicians form Jimi Hendrix to Bob Dylan, and Iron maiden to Eric Clapton. They all use different kinds of guitars to get the sound they like, and that is key when you are getting that first electric guitar – find out what kind of sound you like and then find out what kind of guitar makes that sound, and then find out all about it.
Now, bit about the mechanics of the guitar – the construction. There are dual pick-ups, Chromebuckers, Tremolo bars (Or whammy bars) that change the pitch or make that wobbling sound, and there are slant bridges and the placement of them, and there are single coil pick-ups, and on and on. The History of a True American Musical Art Form – The Blues
In the history of music there has probably not been one musical style that has influenced “Popular Music” more than Blues. Blues also is unique in that it is truly an “American” musical art form. As we will discover, the roots of the musical styles of Jazz, Rock, Gospel and musical artists from BB King, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin, all were heavily influenced by the Blues.
It is important to note that the term “Popular Music” as I have used it above is a bit misleading. Too often we mention Classical Music and Popular Music as too completely different musical expressions. I am not inferring that they are not very different from each other. What I am saying is that the word “Popular” actually only relates to the time period one lives in.

Protect Your Karaoke Discs in 6 Easy Steps – Make it Last Forever
Karaoke discs are just like any of our other important investments. As time progresses you will find that your collection grows. The more your collection grows ,then so is the investment you have made in it. Naturally you are going to want to do everything you can to protect that investment, and here are a few tips on how to do that.
1.If you feel that you have quite an investment in your Karaoke Disc collection then try to get a total estimate of the value. For example ,lets say you feel that you have about $1,000. invested. It may be a good idea to contact your insurance company and have these added on to your household assets. Then in the event of something unfortunate happening such as fire or theft at least your financial investment will be protected.
2. Its important where you store you discs. Think about what potential damage could come to them when you are picking out your storage area. For example are they near some place where a leak could occur. If you have them on a shelf under a window, and the window accidentally gets left open in a rain storm, is it going to reach your collection?
Or what about being near a heat supply for example a heating vent or heater? Don’t store them where its going to be damp. After all they can warp just like any regular cd.
3. Keep them in their containers or jackets. Don’t get into the habit of just throwing them on the table when you are done with them. Here there’s a risk something could get spilt on them, or the kids in the house may use them for Frisbees.
4. Inspect your karaoke discs on a regular basis, Make sure there aren’t fingerprints or smudges on them. You can clean them but don’t use anything that has a mineral spirit base to it. If you do then you will most probably melt the disc. You can use a very soft cloth and some window cleaner. Be absolutely sure your cloth is clean, If there is any grease on it you are going to make a mess of your disc. Read the rest of this entry »
