Practically everybody knows what it’s like to feel really frightened.
The earliest horror movies were Gothic in style – meaning that they were frequently set in spooky old mansions, castles, or fog-shrouded, dark settings.Their main characters have included an “unknown,” person,supernatural or monstrous scary creatures, ranging from vampires, demented madmen,devils, evil spirits, monsters, mad scientists, “Frankenstein,”"Jekyll/Hyde” dualities (good against evil), demons,, Satanic villains, the “possessed,” werewolves and other entities to even the unseen, presence of evil.
Practically everybody knows what it’s like to feel really frightened: A pounding heartbeat,fast breathing. nervous perspiration, Butterflies in the stomach. But either because that fright is caused by watching a nail-biting horror movie, listening to a spine-tingling story, or prowling through a shadowy haunted graveyard on Halloween, some people in fact revel in feeling frightened, they thrive on the latest Friday the 13th movie or Stephen King novel. They take pleasure in the rush from in roller coasters or perhaps even sky diving. They crave having the life scared right out of them.
