Almost every age group we have, has karaoke lovers, and they all seem to enjoy the karaoke songs no matter what age group they are most applicable to. Having said that, every age group pretty much has its favorites though. If you are a Karaoke Disc Jockey it might be beneficial for you to know what songs would fit in best or be most popular with the general age group of your audience. Here are just a few examples of how you could categorize your music according to audience age group.

Suppose you are doing a birthday party for pre schoolers or entertaining a family group. Here is where your job is really going to get challenging, trying to please such a wide diversity of age groups. Perhaps at one time the little ones would have run off to play while the adults did their little sing along. Not anymore these little ones want in on the action. Most likely if they have learned how to talk then they are ready to sink karaoke songs.
Often these songs that are favored on the nursery rhyme or kindergarten songs such as, Baa Baa Black sheep, Oh Susanna, or old MacDonald had a farm. Think back and you’ll remember how much you enjoyed them as a kid.

Ok, so now you have tired out the little ones lets move onto the preteens. These are so hard to please. They pretty well choose their karaoke songs based on what the older ones will like. Only problem here is if parents are present then they might not be too happy at their pre teeners belting out some heavy metal music. Try and find a happy medium here. You just might convince the kids to sing out some Daddy A Go Go karaoke songs. They may or may not be their favorites but they do find them amusing.

For all the in-betweens now is going to be your easiest part. For the teens you are going to need a selection of the most current karaoke songs, in rock, heavy rock and rap. Then for the parents you’re looking at songs from the 50′s up to the 80′s. Oh yes there’s a bit more that has got to be included here. For each of these eras you need a selection of rock and roll, country western, jazz, and perhaps some blues.

For the senior there something sad about their music, and that’s becomes it comes from a time when so many of their loved ones were killed in the wars. So the music they seem to play and love the most is what is called the old war songs. To your best to have a selection of Karaoke songs to fit this age group. Such as the white cliffs of Dover, or I’ll take you home again Kathleen. First of all you must enjoy the guitar if you are considering taking guitar lessons. Secondly, don’t be deceived into thinking you are just going to pick up a guitar and within a few hours you going to be strumming out the perfect tune. It won’t work quite that way.

Now if you have decided you are going to take lessons then obviously you are going to need something to learn on right? Its probably not a good idea to run out and buy the most expensive guitar that you can at this point. Also it really isn’t necessary either. You will learn quite nicely on a sensibly priced guitar. Once you are well into your lessons and know for sure you are going to stick with it then you may want to consider a little higher priced better sounding one. Often individuals taking guitar lessons figure that if they buy a higher priced one that they are going to learn faster. That is not true.

Then there is the decision between learning to play on acoustic or electric. Many people believe that if you take guitar lessons on one, then you have to start all over again if you choose to play the other. This is not factual, but an electric guitar is considered by most guitarists to be the easiest to play, so therefore easier to learn on.. The main difference between the acoustic and electric guitar simply comes down to amplification. An electric guitar needs an amplifier. For this reason they are far more expensive. Not only do you have the cost of the guitar, but you have to buy the amplifier as well. You will have noticed that the electric guitars are much thinner and have a different variety of shapes. Acoustic ones are much thicker and more limited in shape. It’s the size and shape that primarily makes the difference in the sound that the guitar will produce.

Another point to keep in mind is that with the electric guitar you are more limited as to the types of music you can play on it, so if you are really serious about learning then you may want to consider the acoustic to learn on and start out with.

Then there will a matter of choosing the types of strings that you are going to put on your guitar. It may be steel, or nylon for example, and each will give you a different sound. These are things that you can discuss with your instructor. You will be in a position to make this choice now that you know what type of guitar you are going to be learning on. If you are into music because you hope someday to perhaps perform in public, or even become a professional then you need to have ways to practice. No doubt you go around the house singing, and of course participate in the shower hall of fame. It seems both singers and non singers ,love to belt out a few lines of a song, when having a shower. However a much better way of practice is perhaps with the karaoke DVDs. If you are just starting out in pursuing your music hobby, then at first you may be a little reluctant to sing in front of others.

You most likely have been to several karaoke parties, and just have been dieing to get up there and sing, but you haven’t quite got your confidence yet. By singing along with karaoke DVDs in the privacy of your home, you soon see that you feel much more comfortable. Before you know it, you’ll be the one at the next karaoke party that won’t give up the microphone.

The other nice feature about practicing with karaoke DVDs is the variety. Perhaps you are most comfortable with one form of music, say maybe country western. You really like some of the other styles such as rock and roll, but you don’t fee confident singing them. You really haven’t tried them much. Why not buy a few of them in the rock and roll style and give it a try. Maybe with a little practice you will surprise yourself and find you do have a talent for it. Anyway it won’t be a waste of money because you can surely use the discs at a karaoke party for other participants.

Not only will your singing improve by practicing with the DVDs, you performance style will improve as well. By being able to sing the same song over and over again you will become comfortable with the microphone. Then you can start working on your body movements, which always enhances a performance.

Don’t rush out in the beginning about a ton of karaoke DVDs. Buy a few and once you have perfected your singing abilities and performance styles, then add a few more. Continue to do that and you are not spending a fortune all at once. You will find that you are getting a nice collection of DVDs. Now its time to try something a little different.
